WHAT IS A MAN DOWN ALARM?
The “Man down”, now commonly known as “Worker down” or “Person down,” is an indispensable safety feature found in wearable safety devices, specifically those used by loneworkers. Typically, these devices incorporate specialised sensors designed to identify specific orientations or a lack of movement, indicating a person may be in a prone position (lying face down) or unable to move or allow the users to raise a manual alert (SOS Panic) if they are able. This advanced technology significantly enhances the safety net for lone workers, providing an efficient and reliable means of responding to potential emergencies in real-time.

FALL DETECTION
Blackline’s True Fall Detection technology sets itself apart by using a three-axis accelerometer for fall detection which offers superior accuracy over other products relying on traditional “tilt” technology. If Blackline’s True Fall Detection technology is not triggered by a soft fall, the device’s no-motion or man-down will detect the worker’s lack of movement and raise an alert.

NO-MOTION
The accelerometer continually monitors the worker’s movements, triggering a local alarm if there’s insufficient movement within a pre-configured period. This alarm includes audible, visual, and tactile cues, prompting the worker to confirm their safety by pressing the check-in button. If the user checks in on time, no safety alert is issued. However, if the lone worker doesn’t respond within the predefined period, the device sends a real-time safety alert to monitoring personnel.

WELLNESS CHECK-IN
Wellness check-in functionality is a pivotal aspect of safety monitoring in lone worker devices. This feature enables users to proactively confirm their safety at regular intervals with a simple button press. Configurable check-in timers allow employees to signal their well-being, providing real-time updates to monitoring personnel. In the absence of a check-in within the set timeframe, the device triggers an alert, prompting swift action. This automated, yet user-friendly, check-in system enhances the overall well-being of lone workers by ensuring continuous monitoring and rapid response to any deviations from the established safety protocols.

SOS PANIC
The SOS panic functionality serves as a critical lifeline for lone workers facing emergencies. With a simple press of a button, users can instantly trigger an SOS alert, signalling distress to monitoring personnel. This immediate response capability is crucial in high-risk situations, ensuring rapid assistance when needed most. SOS panic functionality provides lone workers with a reliable and instant means to call for help, reinforcing their safety and well-being in unpredictable or hazardous situations. If an alert is triggered due to the aforementioned Man Down functionality, our highly trained monitoring personnel follow the company’s emergency response protocol, ensuring the fastest possible emergency response.
